Description

I had this really long description that was so well written it was almost poetic. I was convinced as I wrote I should be a philosopher it was so impressive but then I thought I should not explain the painting or the message and erased it all. I thought a detailed description would interfere with the viewer's own experience with it so I decided to just leave the description to this.

JUST KIDDING! I don't know why I painted this. I just started scribbling and it developed. My thought is that the angel got pierced with a fireball in the hip and the injury spot radiated the light within him. What else are the guys in the lake of fire supposed to do for entertainment? That ticked him off--- so he payed a little visit to the other side of the chasm and had a little chat with the residents.

I had fun with the concept of contrast between figures on one side and the good guy on the other.

No references. Painter 8 and PS 7.

Thanks for looking at it.

The thing that sticks out at me most are the wings. They don't have the proper anatomical structure, and they're more like those paper cutouts that people put on their kids at Christmas in church plays. Adding some proper wings with feather detail would really add to this image! I like the lava creatures, though, and the cinders.

Yeah, the lava guys are cool and very well rendered, but the angel has some anatomical stuff going on, like the short and not well foreshortened arms. The light beams look maybe too "effecty", and clash with the brushstrokes of the rest of the pic. Just my two cents :)

Thanks Jseay and Augustopatino. I think for me I was more interested in the concept than worrying too much about the anatomy at this point. Onde day I will rework the wings and work from a model. For now, it was just a quick painting.
Really appreciate your input.

Woah! A really interesting concept here. I wonder why it wasn't popular enough here.

See nothing wrong with it.
